Campaigning & Working on Women's Equity
Last weekend I spoke at Fallbrook AAUW (American Association of University Women) about the state AAUW Public Policy Committee work.
We (the Legislative subcommittee) are currently reviewing 50 bills to determine how we should prioritize these bills for our advocacy of gender equity. On the table this year is a rape survivors bill, support for extended family leave, increased reimbursement rates for child care providers and many other important issues.
The first week of April will be Lobby Days, opportunities for AAUW members and other supporters to meet with their Assembly and State Senate Representatives to discuss support for our top 3 bills. This what I volunteer much of my time doing. These issues are important to me. These are not just buzz words that you might hear coming from other candidates. I live and breathe this stuff. Win or lose the election, they will see me in Sacramento (again) working to advance Women’s issues, Health Care, and Climate Change.
Ballot Party, Candidate Forum, meeting voters, and Another Meet & Greet
My friends are always asking me who to vote for; Senate, Judge, and Central Committee. This past weekend, we hosted a Ballot Party in my home. Earlier in the week, I took the opportunity to meet voters in front of Major Market in Fallbrook. The next day I was repacking my travel bag with fresh clothes to go to El Cajon to participate in a candidate forum. Friday I was in Rancho San Diego, talking to voters in front of Ralphs. Supporters are hosting another Meet & Greet for me in Bonsall on Sunday the 24th in a beautiful private home. Contact me for an invitation.
Last week, thousands of voters started getting MY postcards from OUR campaign, paid for by OUR supporters, unlike my opponent. His name won’t be mentioned here. He has sold his soul to have those big ugly cards paid for by MAGA Republican Carl Demaio’s dark money. I am Unbought.
Door hangers, signs and buttons.
We still have a few yard signs available. Thank you to our volunteers who are using the break in the rain to canvass, walking precincts around the district, distributing our door hangers. It’s nice to get them off our dining room table and onto voter’s doors. More volunteers, and myself, are making phone calls. Let me know if you would like to help in any way.
I’ve been gratified to hear complete strangers tell me that they voted for me. When I asked what made them decide, my candidate statement in the Voter’s Guide is mentioned. I am the only Democrat that filed a candidate statement.
Recommendations for Central Committee in AD75
This is an obscure, unpaid post for Democratic Party activists. Here are my recommendations:
