Meeting Voters
Shoppers at Trader Joe’s welcomed me.
Yesterday I spoke with shoppers at Trader Joe’s in Scripps Ranch.
Yesterday I spoke with shoppers at Trader Joe’s in Scripps Ranch.
I had a lively discussion with a couple who were inclined to like DeMaio. They didn’t know he was using his Recall Newsom donations to fund the Democrat running against me. Also, those signatures DeMaio collected with the donations weren’t used for anything other than his own database. I make it clear to everyone, that I am the honest candidate in this race. I have not been bought by the MAGA Republicans, like the guy filling your mailboxes with large cards saying what a disaster he promises to be! Choose Joy and everyone will get an honest legislator in Sacramento.
Shoppers were excited to hear that I am taking on DeMaio. We have volunteers and donations for our own campaign, thank you. We don’t want or need to sell out. Some shoppers wanted to take more fliers to give to their work mates and were eager to talk about issues.
DeMaio Has Enough Cash to Fund 2 Campaigns
from The Times of San Diego
“Both (Republican candidates, Andrew Hayes and Carl DeMaio) are spending heavily, and records are likely to be broken for this seat. Through the end of January, DeMaio reported raising another $210,000 to bring his total contributions to more than $1.1 million including a $100,000 personal loan. Hayes reported contributions of more than $623,000.”
Readers of the Times commented that all the candidates were just puppets of whoever was funding them. This was my comment: “In my case, my endorsers haven't donated to my campaign, other than as small donors. So, I am not anyone’s puppet and I don't continually harangue people with pleas for donations. I'm not desperate for a job, because I don't need one. But I agree with the commentators that most of my other opponents fall into that category.”
My theory of the case is that Kevin Juza is entirely beholden to Republican DeMaio. In contrast to that, I am a real Democrat, truly independent, and not a go-along-to-get-along politician. I would actually stand up to the Investor Owned Utilities, on behalf of ratepayers (renters or home owners) and solar users.
Sometimes, our friends in the unions automatically side with their SDG&E bosses, without thinking about the earth and its people. Some politicians who have never set foot in a union hall, are quick to take union money, which they use to buy non-union campaign materials. I earned my union stripes as an activist and negotiator with the SEIU. I’ve actually risked my livelihood to stand up to union busters. And I will always stand up for the environment.
Another Meet & Greet Tomorrow in Bonsall
Let me know if you would like the address. It’s 10 to noon tomorrow, Saturday the 24th.
This week voters in Poway got my post cards. We noticed a lot of hits on the website from Poway. I also visited a club in Mira Mesa this week. And, again, thank you to those who sent in donations.
We have more door hangers, signs and buttons.
We still have a few yard signs available. Thank you to the volunteers who are continuing to canvass and make calls. We have a few more door hangers and can make many more calls.
Recommendations for Central Committee in AD75
Personally, I’m calling this the Anti-corruption Slate.
