Health Care/Access to Reproductive Health Services

Health Care needs to become easier to access. and available to everyone.

I know 1st hand about reproductive rights.  As an 18 year old working woman, I got my health care from the Planned Parenthood clinic in Los Angeles. Today these clinics have been disappearing.  Instead we have “crisis pregnancy centers”.  Seniors are getting kicked off their Medicare Advantage Plans at Scripps. Hospitals in rural areas have closed.  Urgent care clinics are not open on evenings and weekends.  As the Political Action Chair of the Fallbrook Democrats, I have organized door to door campaigns to increase support of Healthy California legislation.

The governor recently vetoed the $35 out-of-pocket cap for insulin.  We should override this veto.  We have a veto proof majority in both houses.  Why don’t we use it?  When it comes to Health Care, I am not another go-along-to-get-along politician.  The governor’s plan is to have insulin produced by Civiga-Rx, but this product is a long way from FDA approval.

Climate Change

I take Climate Change seriously.  We are close to the point of no-return.  Our farmland is drying up as we fight over water rights.  Wildfires threaten many towns.  California needs to prioritize helping farmers grow food in a sustainable manner.  Poor communities with little water access, and few trees for shade are struggling.

I pledge not to take contributions over $200 from oil, gas, & coal industry executives, lobbyists, and PACs and instead prioritize the health of our families, climate, and democracy over fossil fuel industry profits

All Cities and Counties in California should have a Climate Action Plan.  That’s why 8 years ago I founded the Fallbrook Climate Action Team, to educate the public on the issues and to press for Climate Plans at all levels of government.

Affordable Housing

The rent is too high.  Young people can’t afford to move out and our Seniors are getting squeezed.

College students are cramming into apartments by the 10’s. New households aren’t being formed and even dating for young adults has become challenging.  Government needs to step up but all we hear from politicians is to let developers build more sprawl developments in the back country.  That’s not a solution.  Affordable housing is being taken away by greedy hedge fund speculators.

Lets put a stop to Airbnbs.  Short term rentals are driving up property values in neighborhoods intended for family housing, making it hard for young workers to achieve home ownership.  There’s no reason for policymakers to allow Airbnbs to bypass zoning regulations.   Our neighborhoods were not meant to be full of expensive mini-hotels.

Human rights, (including Women’s rights)

The rights we have won over the past century are being taken away by the MAGA Republicans.

  * The Supreme Court overturned Roe Vs Wade
Twenty One States have now banned or severely restricted abortions
Some extremists suggest that women shouldn’t be allowed to vote.

I am still, as always, advocating for women’s Rights.
